Jumbo Screens Deliver Great Views Outside Cowboys Stadium, Too
The Dallas Cowboys' colossal new stadium is renowned for many things, including the world's largest HD video screen suspended 90 feet above the playing field. But the first
screens the crowds see as they approach the glittering venue are some of the eight new Daktronics (Nasdaq-DAKT) LED displays that tower over the outdoor plazas.
The massive displays - each larger than the biggest screen at Texas Stadium, the team's former home - are the centerpieces of a unique alliance between the Cowboys and GoVision
(www.jumbo.tv), one of the nation's premier suppliers of turnkey mobile LED units and customized modular LED walls.
The portable screens were configured and installed by GoVision technicians so they could be quickly disassembled at the end of the season and taken to a variety of offseason
events, such as the Final Four, NASCAR races, concert tours and corporate functions. The eight screens give GoVision the world's largest inventory of Daktronics 12HD equipment -
more than four times the size of any other U.S. rental company. GoVision will share rental revenues generated by the Cowboys' screens with the club.
"We want every aspect of the game-day experience at Cowboys Stadium to be extraordinary, and the video boards in the outdoor plazas are an important part of that,"
said Charlotte Jones Anderson, senior vice president of the Dallas Cowboys Football Club. "We're also excited about our partnership with GoVision, which will enable this
state-of-the-art equipment to be used at other major events when they're not needed at the stadium."
"When you combine the biggest name in football with the biggest LED rental company in Texas, you know it's going to be a powerful partnership," said Chris Curtis, president
of GoVision LP. "The flexibility of these panels will allow us to showcase the Cowboys' displays at PGA tournaments, music festivals and a variety of big events this offseason."
The portable screens, comprised of Daktronics PST-12HD video panels, bring fans live high definition broadcasts of each game from state-of-the-art Sony®
HD production equipment. The displays also show crowd prompts, live scores, highlights and a variety of promotional content during pre-game, in-game and post-game activities.
"The Cowboys have a tradition of providing one of the best game-day experiences in football," said Myron Linde, Daktronics mobile and modular sales manager.
"We are pleased to be working with the Cowboys, Sony and GoVision to help usher in an exciting new chapter in that tradition."
The new displays made their NFL debut at the Cowboys' home opener on September 20 against the New York Giants.
